As you may have already noticed, things have been a little different on Sunday mornings for the past few weeks. Pastor Donnie has been leading worship in a stripped-down acoustic format as a way to emphasize the lyric content of the songs we sing, as well as the communal aspect of singing as one body and speaking truth to one another in the form of song. This is allowing Donnie more flexibility in how he prepares to lead on Sundays, and for this reason, the worship blog will not be utilized during this time. You can expect the blog to be up and running again once we go back to our usual setup on Sunday mornings, and we will most likely be announcing this via Twitter and the announcement slides on Sundays. Until then, take time on to reflect on why we sing. Use the change of pace to allow the Spirit to work in your heart and stir up your affections for the Father. Focus on what exactly we’re saying with these songs, and allow it deepen the authenticity of your singing to one another and to God. Lastly, “Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18b-21)
